The disbursements of scholarships for the second semester will take place in May 2024. In order for the payments to be processed, scholarship offices will reach out to you to request the necessary information and documents starting on March 26th 2024. Until this date, there is no need for you to upload any documents to the system unless requested from you.

Enhancing Access to Higher Education, Social Cohesion, and Participation in Professional Life


Welcome to the official website of the European Union Scholarships Project!

We are thrilled to introduce this initiative, which aims to expand access to higher education by providing financial support to students under temporary and international protection as well as Turkish citizens. Additionally, the project aims to foster social cohesion and facilitate employment processes through skill development.

Over the course of three years, this project, funded by the European Union, seeks to make a lasting impact on the lives of numerous students striving for educational and vocational opportunities.

The primary objective of the European Union Scholarship Project is to enhance students' access to higher education and related services. The project activities are designed to provide equal opportunities for all students, with a particular focus on gender equality, inclusivity for individuals with disabilities, and addressing the needs of other vulnerable groups.  


Scholarship Content

The scholarships provided under this Project are as follows:

Stipend
  • 360 Euro Stipend per academic year per student for undergraduate students (in two instalments)
  • 540 Euro Stipend per academic year per student for graduate and doctorate students (in two instalments)
Tuition Fee

The maximum EU contribution to the tuition fee for undergraduate and postgraduate students cannot exceed 500 Euros per student per year.

The student will receive a reimbursement for the tuition twice upon submission of the tuition receipt, subject to eligibility.


Application and Announcement Dates

The deadline for the scholarship application is 1 November 2023 - applications submitted after this date will not be considered.

Applicants will be notified of the result of their application starting from 1 December 2023.


Project Partners and Collaborations

The project consortium comprises four key members who play pivotal roles in achieving the project's objectives: Ankara University, Hasan Kalyoncu University, Marmara Municipalities Union, and the International Migration Policy Development Center (ICMPD). Below, you will find a detailed description of each partner's role.

About ICMPD

ICMPD, also known as the International Center for Migration Policy Development, is an intergovernmental organization established in 1993 on the initiative of Austria and Switzerland. In 2023, ICMPD celebrated its 30th anniversary. Committed to a "partnership" approach, ICMPD upholds human rights and demonstrates sensitivity towards the needs of member states. Operating across Europe, Eurasia, Central Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America, ICMPD conducts research on innovative, inclusive, and sustainable migration policies. It supports these policies through capacity-building activities and provides an international platform for informal interstate consultations in the field of migration management.

Today, ICMPD boasts a membership of 20 states, including Türkiye, and employs 487 individuals. The agency also holds UN observer status. Türkiye officially joined ICMPD as its 17th member on May 15, 2018, following its inclusion in the founding agreement of ICMPD through Law No. 6993, dated March 9, 2017 (Official Gazette number: 30024, dated March 31, 2017).

About Hasan Kalyoncu University

Hasan Kalyoncu University was founded in Gaziantep, a significant intersection of the historical Silk Road, where diverse religions, languages, races, cultures, and civilizations converge. The university is dedicated to education, research, and innovation.

In its initial academic year, Hasan Kalyoncu University commenced with three departments each in the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture and the Faculty of Economics, Administrative, and Social Sciences. Subsequently, the university expanded its departments within these faculties during the 2011-2012 academic year and began enrolling students in the Faculty of Law and the School of Health Sciences.

Hasan Kalyoncu University strives to be a research and innovation-oriented institution that offers education based on freedom, justice, and morality. About Marmara Municipalities Union

The Marmara Municipalities Union (MMU) has been at the forefront of developing the democratic local government movement in Türkiye since 1975. It works towards increasing the authority and resources of municipalities, fostering environmental awareness among local governments, embracing sustainable urbanism, and finding collaborative solutions to common municipal issues on a regional scale. MBB is the first union of municipalities in Türkiye.

MBB offers administrative, financial, and legal consultancy services, as well as training programs. It supports scientific studies and brings together relevant stakeholders to enhance the institutional capacities of local governments in areas such as environmental management, urbanization, migration, social cohesion, local diplomacy, local development, city technologies, and innovation. Headquartered in Istanbul, Marmara Municipalities Union has 188 member municipalities and operates in 11 provinces, including six metropolitan cities (Balıkesir, Bilecik, Bursa, Çanakkale, Edirne, Istanbul, Kırklareli, Kocaeli, Sakarya, Tekirdağ, and Yalova).

The EU Scholarship Project recognizes the significance of cooperation and partnerships in realizing its objectives. By fostering synergies among universities, municipalities, government institutions, and international and national organizations, the project aims to enhance students' competencies in education, social cohesion, and employment opportunities. These collaborations create a support network that strengthens the overall impact of the project.
